the coaching team at the World Famous
Wollman Ice Rink in Central Park!
After teaching exclusively at The Rink at Rockefeller Center for many years, I’m now sharing my skating skills at the World Famous Wollman Rink in Central Park!
I look forward to welcoming you and helping you learn to ice skate at this magical location!
How do I book a lesson with Melanie?
Lessons can be booked directly with Melanie Athena at Wollman Ice Rink on the website up to one week in advance here:

1.Select "Book a lesson"
2. In the calendar/ drop down menu, click on "select appointment type"; scroll and make selection.
3. Select "all instructors" and scroll down until you see “Melanie” to select my name.
4. Select day/date you want to book lesson.
5. Hit search and all available lesson days and times will come up under my name.
At this time my teaching schedule at Wollman is as follows:
Monday 8AM to 5:30PM
Wednesday 2PM - 6PM
Thursday 2PM - 6PM
Friday 8AM to 5:30PM
Saturday 8AM to 3 PM

Need some pointers? Book a Private Lesson to reserve time with a professional
instructor. These half hour classes focus on skating fundamentals to help you feel
comfortable and confident on the ice.
Experienced skater looking to perfect that spin or jump? Skating lessons for advanced skaters are available as well.
Please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of your lesson and check in at the Skate School Desk..
You will meet your skating teacher, Melanie, at your scheduled lesson time at the railing / entrance to the ice.
Your lesson begins at scheduled time and ends 30 minutes later, please arrive on time so you don’t miss any of your lesson time!
After your lesson, stay, practice and enjoy skating for a while!
